You moved into a home with an existing security system
Sometimes when people close on a home, a modern security system is already established. All the alarms and cameras work, are installed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might find that you have to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to ensure there are no integration problems, and they may offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a fast visit, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The old owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small transfer fee to make the process a snap. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment complex or smaller home, you keeping the Vivint service may be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old components with you
You might need to bring along your favorite smart devices with you to your new house when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each component yourself or call a professional expert to come and take care of the system. Then an expert will put in the same components -- and any additions you need to make -- in your new place. The home security contract will remain the same.
